​​This project focuses on wellbeing for young people ​from refugee backgrounds, ​and their families.

The Youth Wellbeing research project 
​The project will support design of more effective preventive, early intervention and management strategies. 
It will improve our understanding of the social determinants of mental health (SDMH)
for young people from refugee backgrounds (aged 12-25) within their family and community contexts.  
​
Genuine consultation is at the heart of this research, ​with refugee communities,
​service providers and community members. 
​
​Held during 2024-2025 in South Australia, Queensland and Victoria


Analysis ​of quantitative data from large data sets that already exist
Workshops ​and symposia with young people, community leaders, service providers and other key stakeholders
​Interviews ​with young people, family members and service providers
Development and piloting of a tool ​to help improve service provision and support wellbeing for young people

This project is managed by a team of Chief Investigators together with Associate Investigators and partner organisations as listed below. Following best practice, we have convened an Advisory Group of young people with migration backgrounds, and a Reference Group comprised of our research partners, other service providers and policy makers and community representatives.
